Innerspace Explorers

Who are we?

ISE stands for Inner Space Explorers. It is an organization with the intent to promote underwater explorations in all its fascinating aspects. As it was founded in 2008 by internationally renown instructor and explorer Achim R. Schlöffel, the name of the company was chosen with care and purpose.

Let us explain...

What ISE and foremost underwater explorations mean to us, is best shown by the life story of our founder:
Achim started diving in 1980. At the age of 18, he went to Florida where he worked as a diving instructor and started his commercial diving career. Prior to starting his own company ‘Classic-Dive’ in 1996, Achim worked as a diving instructor out of Munich, Germany.
In 2002 Achim founded THE-INNER-SPACE.COM. A company dedicated to the highest quality dive training and exploration around the world. THE-INNER-SPACE.COM still serves as a resource center for the diving community all over the world. From 1999 until 2008 Achim has taught various courses and levels in technical diving for GUE where he was the one of a handfull Tech 2 instructors.

Achim´s greatest passion for diving was, and is to this date the exploration of the underwater world. Be it an unexplored wreck, or an uncharted cave. In his pursuits throughout the years, he took part in various professional diving expeditions all over the world.
Knowing that many divers share his interest in exploration, but most lack the skills and knowledge to perform true exploration in difficult environments in a safe way, Achim decided that it was time for him to move forward and remedy this situation. He formed ISE - Inner Space Explorers.

"..my customers always asked for the most rigorous and demanding training. They want to get the real experience, feel the real limit, and in the end know that they had to give everything. When I realized that I could not offer that anymore I knew it was time to move on..."

For that reason, ISE was founded by an active explorer and builds its core of technical instructors exclusively from people that have a similar history and are active in what they teach.

Why ISE

Our strenghts

We, as ISE have a no-nonsense DIR view of diving. This is not an exception, there are a few DIR-minded organisations in the community. So what does make the difference between them and us? Well we pointed them out for you.

Strict global standards and procedures

All instructors are to follow it so as to have standardized training and procedures, as this greatly removes inconsistency in within the organization. This is done by anual gatering of all instructors. As an organisation, we are very strict at selecting the right instructors. Every isntructor is qualified with blessing of all other instructors. This way we make sure that all education is off high standard and everywhere the same.

Re-qualification

This is to ensure divers and instructors do not jump back into the sport after long period of absenteeism hurting themselves, or greatly reducing the quality of diver training provided by ISE. Divers have to do an evaluation dive with the ISE instructor of that level of training. This system prevents other divers from diving with (by time and lack of practise) incapabel divers on that level. This way you know for sure that your ISE trained buddy is well trained and capabel.

no 'back-to-back" courses

We strongly believe in teh magic that practise and experience can do. Therefor it is not possible to do specific courses directly after each other. This we we make sure you have the experience and control on the previous level, before doing the following course.

Non-smoking organisation

As the founders are active explorers, they know a healthy and fit diver will get the best out of the sport. We allow smokers to enter the foundation classes, and give them the mindset that exploration brings more fun then smoking and help them quit ;).

Critical skill practise

Due to strong demands around the world, we apply relavant underwater simulation drills as they are critical to a diver survival and allowing divers to understand their true limits. A ‘train the way we race’ approach.

Achim R. Schlöffel

Knowing many divers share my interest in exploration. But most lack the skills and knowledge to perform them, I decided it was time to move forward and remedy this situation. So I formed ISE.
